PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a steering system capable of judging an actual restraining condition by a steering operation restraining device. SOLUTION: An ECU 200 is installed to a steering system. The ECU 200 comprises a restraining condition judgment part 280 having a spring reaction force restraining condition judging part 282 judging an actual restraining condition by a spring reaction force restraining device 24, and an operation range restraining condition judging part 284 judging an actual condition by an operation range restraining device 30. The spring reaction force restraining condition judging part 282 judges whether the spring reaction force is restrained or not based on an operation position of a steering wheel 14, magnitude of a motor reaction force, magnitude of the operation reaction force, and the like. The operation range restraining condition judging part 284 judges whether the operation range is restrained or not based on whether the operation position of the steering wheel 14 changes beyond a set range limiting the operation range or not.
