PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce an optically active fluorine-containing cyclic compound utilizable as an intermediate for producing a functional material such as a medicine, an agrochemical and a liquid crystalline compound in high yield. SOLUTION: The new optically active fluorine-containing cyclic compound of formula (I) is produced by reacting silicon tetrafluoride with an optically active cyclic epoxy compound of formula (II) in the presence of an amine or in the presence of the amine and water.
