NOVEL YELLOW EMITTING PHOSPHOR OF STRONTIUM BORATE FOR APPLICATION TO WHITE LIGHT-EMITTING DIODES AND METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A strontium borate-based phosphor is provided to ensure excellent light-emitting property with a wide band width of yellow luminescence when applied to white light-emitting diodes and to secure high rendering index more than YAG:Ce^(3+) yellow phosphor. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a strontium borate-based phosphor represented by chemical formula 1: Sr_(2-x)B_2O_5:Eu^(2+)_x comprises the steps of: (a) dissolving strontium nitrate(Sr(NO3)2), boric acid(H3BO3), and europium nitrate(Eu(NO3)3), performing uniform reaction, and drying the solution to obtain the reactant; and (b) heat-treating the reactant at 1000~1300°C in a reducing atmosphere.
