A box is folded up from a single blank of heat-sealable material (Fig. 1), in such a way that the corner gussets, e.g. 14-15-23, 14-22-23 joining the sides of the box project perpendicularly from the side walls 24- 25-35-34, 22-23-33-32, and the lid projects perpendicularly from the top of the walls. A cover is then sealed to the margin projecting perpendicularly from the top of the walls. The gussets are bent to lie against the end walls (Fig. 7, not shown), and the box is finally closed by bending down the lid and folding the lid end flaps on to the end walls. Weakened lines may be provided in the lid to permit access to the contents. In various modifications the integral lid is omitted and a separate lid provided; additional flaps are provided, the cover omitted and the folding operations modified. In a further embodiment a box is folded from a blank (Fig. 28, not shown), and the lid sealed to the horizontally projecting margins. The end flaps are sealed to the side walls but are not folded to lie against the end walls. |
