PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive printing data at a low communication speed during a warming-up period of time for returning from a power saving mode to a power non-saving mode so as to suppress power consumption when the printing data is received. SOLUTION: A communication mode setting section 102 detects the change to the power saving mode, and at the same time, detects the change to the power non-saving mode. The communication mode setting section 102 outputs a demand for switching the communication speed to higher rank apparatus 50 from the low communication speed to a high communication speed to a communication control section 101 when the change to the power non-saving mode is detected. Further, the communication mode setting section 102 outputs a demand for switching the communication speed with the higher rank apparatus 50 from the high communication speed to the low communication speed to the communication control section 101 when the change to the power saving mode is detected.
