PURPOSE: A filter material and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to offer good heat resistance and surface porosity by composing the filter material with polyimide nanofibers, and to extend life expectancy of the filter material. CONSTITUTION: A polyimide filter material is laminated in a form of a web having a plurality of pores on a collector(4) and composed of polyamide nanofibers having the average diameter of 300-1500 nm. A manufacturing method of the polyimide filter material includes a step for manufacturing a polyelectrolyte solution, a step for electrospinning the polyelectrolyte solution and a step for manufacturing polyamic acid web having a plurality of pores. The polyamic acid nanofibers are imidized by heat-treating the olyamic acid web.
