PURPOSE: An apparatus for monitoring a transmission control unit is provided to improve the accuracy of the monitoring result by changing the separate logic of a power driver. CONSTITUTION: An engine control unit(ECU) and a transmission control unit(TCU) perform an interactive communication through a controller area network(CAN) communication line. A power driver communicates with the microcomputer of the TCU through a serial-peripheral-interface communication protocol. Based on the monitoring result of the microcomputer operation process, the power driver transmits output signal to the ECU through the CAN communication line if the microcomputer outputs signal in a pre-set time.
