<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission type liquid crystal display device of normally white mode enabled to display an arbitrary character or pattern when liquid crystal display device is not driven. <P>SOLUTION: In the transmission type liquid crystal display device 10 of a normally white type having liquid crystal 15 sandwiched between a pair of substrates 13 and 14, a reflector 32 is formed on one 13 of the pair of substrates partially for each sub-pixel, and while a color filter 40 is formed on the other 14 of the pair of substrates, a light shield layer 37 is formed at a position corresponding to the reflector 32. Sub-pixels in an area corresponding to the pattern to be displayed when the transmission type liquid crystal display device 10 is not driven has a cut part 37a formed by partially cutting the light shield layer 37, and a color filter layer 40 is extended to the cut part 37a of the light shield layer 37. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
