PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discoloration preventing treatment method for aluminum-based metal which can be used in an acidic region of pH≤5. SOLUTION: In the discoloration-preventing treatment method for aluminum-based metal, the aluminum-based metal is treated with a hydroxycarboxylic acid compound whose blending amount lies in the range of≥0.05 mass%, preferably, in the range of 0.05 to 10 mass%, and more preferably, in the range of 0.05 to 5 mass% and whose carbon number lies in the range of 1 to 30, and which has one or more carboxyl groups and one or more hydroxy groups in an acidic environment whose pH at 25°C is≤5.
