PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner having a suction head and an extension tube which are readily attached and detached only by one hand, and having an attachment readily attached. SOLUTION: A hand tube 1 connected to a vacuum cleaner body has a front end side connected with the extension tube 2, and the extension tube 2 has a front end side connected with the suction head 3. The front end side of the hand tube 1 is provided with a male connecting portion 30, and the rear end side of the extension tube 2 is provided with a female connecting portion 31 and the front end side thereof is provided with a male connecting portion 30. The rear end side of the suction head 3 is provided with a female connecting portion 31. The male connecting portion 30 is inserted into the female connecting portion 31 to be locked to each other, and the female connecting portion 31 is provided with an operating button 38 for releasing the locking between the connecting portions. The attachment 4 has a rear end side provided with a female connecting portion 31 having an operating button 38. The attachment 4 is fitted to the hand tube 1 or the extension tube 2.
