<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver displaying subtitle information to be broadcasted by a balloon. <P>SOLUTION: The television receiver includes a subtitle data extraction part 13 for extracting the subtitle information, a balloon generation part 14 for generating a balloon having prescribed text character data on the basis of the subtitle information extracted in the subtitle data extraction part 13, and an image composition part 15 for combining the balloon generated in the balloon generation part 14 with video information.
