<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video data processor and a video data processing method, capable of effectively making use of hardware resources when performing processing on video data etc. in a parallel manner. <P>SOLUTION: Video data read from a semiconductor recording medium in playback processing, editing processing, duplication processing, etc., is output to either system by a distributing unit 171. The video data that are output are temporarily held by an input buffer 172-1, decoded by a decoder 173-1, and output to a frame buffer 174-1. The inside of the frame buffers 174-1 and 174-2 is divided into a plurality of holding areas, and these areas are dynamically assigned for each processing, such as playback processing and editing processing.
