<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescent device by which a coating layer can be heated uniformly in electromagnetic wave heating for film formation on the organic electroluminescent device, and to provide an organic electroluminescent device accompanying no emission unevenness (unevenness of luminance) fabricated thereby. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the organic electroluminescent device includes a step of forming at least one organic layer by a coating process on a transparent electrode patterned on a base material and then emitting electromagnetic waves on the organic layer to dry it. The manufacturing method also includes a step of forming a member that absorbs electromagnetic waves to generate heat, in an area not contact with the transparent electrode.
