<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and quantitatively expand an interval between preceding a sheet or the like and a following sheet or the like, even if the sheets are small in strength in the conveyance direction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an upper part on the downstream side in the conveyance direction of a lower part conveyor 1 for conveying the sheet and the like such as veneers 2f, 2g and 2h, a conveyance area is overlapped by the proper length, and an upper part conveyor 3 which is conveyed faster than a carrying speed of the lower part conveyor 1, is also oppositely arranged to the lower part conveyor 1 with a space wider than the thickness of the sheets by several times. A suction hood 4a capable of sucking the sheet or the like conveyed to an overlapping conveyance area of both conveyors 1 and 3 over the total length all at once is also arranged in the overlapping conveyance area. Every time the sheets or the like is conveyed to the overlapping conveyance area, the sheet or the like is sucked from on the lower part conveyor 1 to an upper part conveyor 3 side via the suction hood 4a all at once and a float suppression roll 14 provided near a front-most part of the suction hood 4a is contacted with a distal end part of the following sheet or the like.
