PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning apparatus which can eliminate unreliable azimuth information. SOLUTION: The positioning apparatus 50 includes positioning means 51, 52 and 53 acquiring position information, an azimuth detection means 55 acquiring azimuth information, a communication means 54 communicating with an imaging apparatus 1, an attachment detection means 56 detecting the integral attachment of the positioning apparatus to the imaging apparatus 1, and a communication control means 51 controlling the communication means 54 so as to include the azimuth information in information to be transmitted to the imaging apparatus 1 only when the attachment detection means detects the integral attachment of the positioning apparatus.
