<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely suppress unevenness of light and shade when brightness in a display screen is changed in a plurality of block units. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device is equipped with a light guide plate 350 which is constituted of a plurality of plate-like light-guide members 360 whose side face is formed into a saw blade shape and the side faces of the saw blade shape of neighboring light-guide member 360 are connected in face directions so as to be engaged with each other, and equipped with a plurality of light-emitting diodes 330 which emit light toward respective light-guide members 360.
