<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open showcase allowing stable execution of energy-saving operation when an opening is blocked with a night cover. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The open showcase 1 discharging cold air to the opening 12 of a storage chamber 11 by internal fans 27, 28 to cool the inside of the storage chamber 11 while forming a cold air curtain, and comprising the night cover 51 for covering the opening 12, includes a lighting device 36 or the like for illuminating the inside of the storage chamber 11, a compressor 26, and a control device 20. When the lighting device 20 is put out, the control device 20 carries out predetermined energy-saving operation including control of raising the set temperature in the storage chamber 11 on condition that the operating rate of the compressor 26 is lowered.
