<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carburetor capable of obtaining stability in mixing of an air-fuel mixture with separated fuel from a canister, and easily connecting a purge conduit to a purge joint. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this carburetor equipped with a carburetor body 10 including an intake barrel 11 and a valve cylinder 12, and a piston-like throttle valve 18 slidably fitted in the valve cylinder 12 for opening and closing an intake passage 11a, the purge joint 8 connected to the purge conduit 7 for inducing the separated fuel from the canister N storing evaporated fuel is projected on a side face of the valve cylinder 12, and a purge groove 40 communicating the purge joint 8 with the intake passage 11a is formed on a side face of the throttle valve 18. The purge joint 8 is projected on the one side face of the valve cylinder 12 along a plane P orthogonal with an axis X of the intake passage 11a, and the purge groove 40 is formed on the throttle valve 18 so as to communicate the purge joint 8 with a recess 32 opening at the intake passage 11a at a tip end face of the throttle valve 18.
