PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical material capable of producing an optical film which excels in transparency, heat resistance, and mechanical properties, has a small absolute value of photoelastic coefficient, and exhibits a negative birefringence. SOLUTION: A resin composition for use as an optical material includes a graft copolymer (A) including a rubbery polymer having a refractive index of 1.51-1.54 and an aromatic vinyl compound, an unsaturated nitrile compound, and a compound copolymerizable with these compounds which are grafted on to the rubbery polymer as polymer units, (B) an unsaturated nitrile copolymer including an aromatic vinyl compound, an unsaturated nitrile compound, and a compound copolymerizable with these compounds as polymer units, and (C) a heat-resistant acrylic resin, and has a glass transition temperature of not lower than 110°C and a haze of the 50μm-thick film, measured on the basis of JIS K7136, of not greater than 2.0.
