<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of obtaining characteristics close to ideal spectral characteristics for which the characteristics of a desired color reproduction system are taken into consideration, and a signal processing method in the imaging apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A coefficient computing part 63 obtains the general spectral characteristics of the entire imaging system on the basis of respective color signals outputted from a plurality of imaging elements 4R, 4G and 4B when an object for color adjustment to be a reference is imaged. The coefficient computing part 63 obtains the deviation of the spectral characteristics between the general spectral characteristics and the desired ideal characteristics of a reproduction system, and obtains a matrix coefficient for bringing the general spectral characteristics close to the ideal characteristics of the reproduction system as a color characteristic conversion coefficient on the basis of the deviation of the characteristics. The color characteristic conversion coefficient is stored in a coefficient storage part 61. In a signal processing part 62, the operation of multiplying the color characteristic conversion coefficient stored in the coefficient storage part 61 to the respective color signals outputted from the imaging elements 4R, 4G and 4B is performed and they are outputted as video signals Vout.
