<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ligand that binds to, and stimulates phosphorylation of, a receptor tyrosine kinase Flt4. <P>SOLUTION: A human VEGF-related protein (VRP), that binds to, and stimulates phosphorylation of, the receptor tyrosine kinase Flt4, has been isolated and identified. The VRP is postulated to be a third member of a VEGF protein family.
