<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device with improved heat resistance, etc., which is used as an input device for a portable telephone, a PDA, a PC, and TV, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The coordinate input device includes: an input part formed by holding a transparent inorganic photoconductive film layer between multiple parallel electrodes and multiple transparent parallel electrodes crossing the parallel electrodes; a driving circuit; a signal detecting circuit; and an optical system for radiating spot light. The spot light includes at least UV light and visible laser light. An electric current is generated in the transparent inorganic photoconductive film layer by the UV light.
