PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality image without distortion or color shift by suppressing the degradation of image quality as much as possible, even when the rotational speed of a photoreceptor is suddenly changed. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: the rotatable photoreceptor 2a; an image forming part 45 for forming an image on the photoreceptor 2a; a rotation sensor 16 for detecting the rotational speed of the photoreceptor 2a; a non-uniform rotation determining part 73 determining whether non-uniform rotation occurs based on the data of the detected rotational speed; and an image formation control part 77 performing control for stopping the image formation related to the non-uniform rotation, when the non-uniform rotation determining part 73 determines that the non-uniform rotation has occurred.
