<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and precisely detect a rotating state of a cylindrical fixing belt that a fixing device includes with simple and inexpensive constitution without processing the fixing belt. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fixing device 1 includes a rotation transmission device 91 which includes a roll 911 whose outer circumferential surface comes into contact with an outer circumferential surface of the fixing belt 2 and which rotates following up rotation of the fixing belt 2, and inputs the rotation of the roll 911 to increase and output the rotation of the fixing belt 2, and a photosensor 92 which detects the rotating state of the fixing belt 2 on the basis of the output of the rotation transmission device 91.
