<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce broadcast data which is broadcast before update of device key generation algorithm and accumulated by a broadcast receiver even when the device key generation algorithm is updated. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver is provided which has: a recording means for receiving the broadcast data including encrypted content, a plurality of encryption keys encrypted by different algorithm and a plurality of pieces of key information including identification information on each algorithm; an update means for updating a program by receiving a new program and identification information for identifying algorithm for performing program mounting and storing them into a memory; a retrieval means for retrieving key information including the encryption key encrypted by the algorithm of the program stored in the memory from among the plurality of pieces of key information by comparing the identification information stored in the memory with pieces of identification information included in each of the plurality of pieces of key information; a control means for controlling the generation means so as to generate the encryption key from the key information found by the retrieval means.
