PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain excellent image removing performance for a long period without damaging a material to be recorded, to cause no jam even if a material to be recorded other than a desired material to be recorded is mixed, and to avoid formation of a high-temperature part in a device. SOLUTION: An image removing device has an image removal tank, an image removal medium accelerating means, an image removal medium reproducing means, and a circulating means. The image removal tank is provided on a conveyance path for a material to be recorded, stores a thin-piece type image removal medium and has an opening portion on the side of the medium to be recorded. The image removal medium accelerating means causes the image removal medium scattered in the image removal tank to collide against the material to be recorded with a high-speed air current to remove an image formed on the material to be recorded. The image removal medium reproducing means sucks and removes image forming substance sticking on the image removal medium colliding against the material to be recorded to reproduce the image removal medium.
