The device has a rectangular parallelepiped closed case (1) including an introducing orifice (2) for introducing cigarette butts. The case encloses a recuperation unit i.e. rectangular recuperation container (3), for recuperating the butts, and an instantaneous extinguishing unit i.e. reservoir (4), that instantaneously extinguishes the butts and contains inflammable liquid (6). The container is removably mounted in the reservoir. The case has an upper face (1') that is inclined at an angle of 45 degree, towards a base of the case.
