PURPOSE: A negative active material for a lithium secondary battery is provided to ensure high capacity and excellent lifetime property and to obtain a lithium secondary battery showing high capacity. CONSTITUTION: A negative active material for a lithium secondary battery comprises a compound of chemical formula 1: Li_(1+x)Ta_(1-x-y)M_yO_(2+z). In chemical formula 1, 0.01 <= x <= 0.5, 0 <= y <= 0.3, and -0.2 <= z <= 0.2; M is selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Zr, Mo, W, Ag, Sn, Ge, Si, Al, and combinations thereof. |
