PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load controller that assures reduced size and increased capacity with a less amount of heat during power feeding to a load and requires no power factor limitation for loads such as a fluorescent lamp and an incandescent lamp. SOLUTION: The load controller includes: a main opening/closing section 11 to control power supply to a load 3; an auxiliary opening/closing section 17 to control power supply to the load 3 when the main opening/closing section 11 is non-conductive; a control section 13 to control opening/closing of the main opening/closing section 11 and the auxiliary opening/closing section 17; a first power supply section 14 to supply power to the control section 13; a second power supply section 15 to supply power to the first power supply section 14 when power feeding to the load 3 is stopped; a third power supply section 16 to supply power to the first power supply section 14 when the main opening/closing section 11 or the auxiliary opening/closing section 17 is in a closed state and power is fed to the load 3; and a voltage detector section 18 to detect the input voltage of the third power supply section 16. When the input voltage of the third power supply section 16 reaches a given threshold, the main opening/closing section 11 is made to be conductive for a first given period of time, and the auxiliary opening/closing section 17 is made to be conductive for a second given period of time while the main opening/closing section 11 is non-conductive.
