PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyglycolic acid solidified extruded article to be formed into a secondary molded article by machining, e.g. cutting, boring, disconnecting, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The polyglycolic acid solidified extruded article is formed from a resin material containing polyglycolic acid with melt viscosity of 10-1,500 Pa s measured at 270°C and 120 sec<SP>-1</SP>shear velocity, and has density of 1.575-1.625 g/cm<SP>3</SP>, and thickness or diameter of 5-100 mm. The method for producing the polyglycolic acid solidified extruded article includes a process to compress a solidified extruded article and take off it while applying back pressure in a direction of a forming die, after solidified extrusion of the resin material containing the polyglycolic acid, and thereby, suppress expansion to a thickness direction or diametrical direction of the solidified extruded article.
