<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a segment which enables the omission of secondary lining after the assembly of the segment and which is advantageous in cost reduction and high-speed construction, and a method for constructing a tunnel by using the segment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The segment 3 is assembled along an inner periphery of a bored tunnel hole by an erector 1, so as to construct the tunnel. In the segment 3, an inner peripheral surface 3a of a segment body 3x is smoothly formed with no irregularities so as to be attached by a suction force to a vacuum pad 22 mounted on the erector 1; a cutting face-side displacement prevention recess 24 for inserting a cutting face-side displacement prevention protrusion 25 mounted on the erector 1 is formed in the cutting face-side end surface 23 of the segment body 3x; and a pit mouth-side displacement prevention recess 59 for inserting a pit mouth-side displacement prevention protrusion 51b mounted on the erector 1 is formed in the pit mouth-side end surface 50 of the segment body 3x.
