<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating a front surface layer of a tile carpet from a backing resin layer, and efficiently recovering the backing resin layer having no fiber waste of the front surface layer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for separating the front surface layer of the tile carpet from the backing resin layer includes: sufficiently heating the tile carpet from the side of the front surface layer; melting the backing resin layer on the side of the front surface layer; pulling the end of the front surface layer and the end of the backing resin layer at the same end of the tile carpet in respectively opposite directions without giving shearing force to the front surface layer and the backing resin layer; and then efficiently recovering the backing resin layer.
