<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene classifying method, a gene classifying program and a gene classifying device to easily classify a gene based on a temporal behavior of a gene expression level. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The gene classifying method acquires expression levels of a plurality of genes at a plurality of corresponding observation points, and converts the expression level behavior to a binary series (binary string) along a temporal passage of the observation points by taking a positive or negative difference in expression level in the temporal passage direction of the observation points for each gene. The pattern (positive or negative pattern) takable by the binary string is inevitably determined according to the method.
