PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving body drive mechanism preventing interference between power transmission bodies such as chains without using a chain bent in a width direction, and high in operation stability. SOLUTION: In the moving body drive mechanism 10 (for example, a stacker crane) reciprocating a moving body 3 with respect to a reference body 5, the power transmission body 11 includes: a first rope 13 extending from a first fixed position X1 in the moving body 3; a second rope 15 extending from a second fixed position X2 in the moving body 3; a connecting part 17 connecting the first rope 13 with the second rope 15. The first and the second ropes 13, 15 are spaced from each other in the width direction. The connecting part 17 is positioned between the first and second ropes 13, 15 with respect to the width direction, and connecting the rope 13 with the rope 15 in the width direction. The connecting part 17 is engaged with a first rotary wheel 7 or a second rotary wheel 9 to be directly driven in a reciprocating direction by the first rotary wheel 7 or the second rotary wheel 9.
