<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for determining a damage to each component (a bumper cover, a chamber member, a pressure sensor, or the like) constituting a collision detection device for vehicle simultaneously with collision detection, and technique for informing a failure of a detection unit when it is determined that the damage exceeds a predetermined value, in the collision detection device for vehicle for detecting a pressure change in a chamber arranged in a vehicle bumper. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the collision detection device for vehicle 10, the detection unit 4 includes the chamber member 7 which is arranged in the vehicle bumper 1 and has a chamber space 7a inside, and the pressure sensor 9 which detects a pressure in the chamber space 7a, and the collision of an object with the vehicle bumper 1 is detected based on a pressure detection result obtained by the pressure sensor 9. The collision detection device for vehicle includes a damage determination means for determining a damage of the vehicle bumper 1 based on the pressure detection result obtained by the pressure sensor 9, and a failure informing means for informing the failure of the detection unit 4 when the damage determination means determines that the damage of the vehicle bumper 1 exceeds the predetermined value.
