METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING DEPTH MAP FOR CONVERSION TWO DIMENSIONAL IMAGE TO THREE DIMENSIONAL IMAGE

PURPOSE: A depth map creating method and a device thereof are provided to convert a two dimensional image into a three dimensional image, in order to supply various kinds of three dimensional image contents through produced two dimensional images. CONSTITUTION: An edge sensing unit(120) creates an edge map through the edge of an input image. A line tracking unit(130) creates a line map. A depth creating unit(140) creates a depth map through the line of the line map. An up-scaling/smoothing unit(150) scales and smoothens the depth map. A lateral shifting unit(160) creates a stereo image by lateral shifting of the depth value of each pixel location in the depth map.
