PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stem protrusion preventing structure of a ball valve allowing easy incorporation of a component for preventing stem protrusion without complicating its inner structure and capable of securely preventing a stem from protruding after the incorporation, and a method incorporating the same. SOLUTION: A ball valve element 3 is incorporated in a body 4 via an insert 2, and the ball valve 1 is rotatably provided with the ball valve element 3 via the stem 5. In the stem protrusion preventing structure of the ball valve, a locking pin 8 is fitted and held in the stem radial direction at the lower part of the stem 5. The locking pin 8 is positioned in a storage room 10 formed in the body 4. Further, the storage room 10 is provided with an inner peripheral wall 13 for holding the locking pin 8 and a circular engagement part 14 formed to have a step at the upper part of the inner peripheral wall 13.
