<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to easily determine deterioration with time in function of an image forming device, and to automatically and frequently perform the determination in accordance with increase in use time that causes the function deterioration. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming device includes: an imaging mechanism 403; and an image forming control means 411 for controlling printing using the imaging mechanism, executing sample printing at set sample printing intervals during execution of a printing job, and transmitting a sample printed matter to a sample paper-discharge port which is different from a paper-discharge port for a printed matter of the printing job. The device also includes means 407-409 for generating and holding a residual function index value of a component based on use of an imaging function component of the imaging mechanism, and a means 409 for setting the sample printing interval based on the residual function index value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
