<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a micro rocking element suitable for closely arranging the main rocking parts of adjacent elements; a micro rocking element array including such micro rocking elements; and an optical switching apparatus including such micro rocking elements. <P>SOLUTION: The micro rocking element X1 includes: a frame 20; a rocking part 10 having main rocking parts (11, 11'); and a torsion connecting part 40 which connects the frame 20 and the rocking part 10 to define the axis of the rocking motion of the rocking part 10. The frame 20 has a pair of extension parts 20A.
