PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus that reduces image shift of a recording medium in a short period of time. SOLUTION: A printer 10 has: a resist roll 20A rotating at a base velocity Vr0; a fixing roll 48A rotating at a base velocity Vf0; and a control unit 54 for adding a correction peripheral velocity based on the base velocity Vr0 and peripheral velocity change ratesΔVr,ΔVf preset in the base velocity Vf0 and for operating it. Here, even if a diameter of the resist roll 20A or the fixing roll 48A is changed due to an environmental change inside or outside of a case 11 of the printer 10, the control unit 54 adds the correction peripheral velocity based on the preset peripheral velocity change ratesΔVr,ΔVf to the base velocity Vr0 and the base velocity Vf0 to recover the peripheral velocity needed, thereby reducing the image shift of paper P in a short period of time.
