PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive caster device embodied simply through combination with existing universal casters, capable of converting from the universal type to the fixed type, and vice versa, freely using a simple structure. SOLUTION: The caster device has universal caster mounting parts 4 each formed so that a wheel 6 is borne free to roll on mutually confronting support pieces 5a and 5a' of a wheel frame 5 mounted on the mounting part 4 in such a way as rotatable round a vertical axis, and this mounting part 4 and a restricting base plate 10 interposed between the mounting part 4 and a load carrying platform 2 are fastened to the load carrying platform 2 with bolts 8. To a lower supporting piece 12 hung on the restricting base plate 10, a restricting frame 14 provided to the forefront with an engaging gap 15 to allow engagement of one support piece 5a of the wheel frame 5 is pivoted with a shaft 13 in such a way as swinging at the base part. In a position over the shaft 13, one end of a coil spring 18 with the other end fastened to the middle part of the restricting frame 14 is fastened to an upper supporting piece 11 installed upright on the restricting base plate 10.
