PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller for conveyance, in which rotation of a drive roller is surely transmitted to a driven roller to perform smooth conveyance, and which is efficiently manufactured, and to provide a method of manufacturing the roller for conveyance. SOLUTION: The roller 1 for conveyance is disposed to a conveyor device conveying an object to be conveyed, and includes a belt engagement groove 18 on which a belt is wound. The roller includes a cylindrical roller body 11, and a cover member 12 installed to the roller body 11. The cover member 12 includes an insertion part 15 inserted into the roller body 11, and a base groove 20 is formed to an outer periphery of the insertion part 15.
