PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a numerical control type machine tool capable of reducing a required time from termination of cutting to start of tool replacement by determining whether or not the tool replacement is required early after termination of cutting feed through a cutting command and starting spindle orient control from the time that a spindle reaches a height position for starting machining when the tool replacement is required, and also to provide a control program used for the same. SOLUTION: The numerical control type machine tool is provided with a tool replacement determining means for determining whether or not a next command is the tool replacement before a spindle head 7 returns to the height position for starting the machining by a spindle head moving drive means after the termination of the cutting feed through the cutting command based on a machining program and with a spindle orient control means for starting the spindle orient control which stops the spindle 9 at a predetermined stop position in a rotating direction for the tool replacement by a spindle drive means from the time that the spindle head 7 reaches the height position for starting the machining by the spindle head moving drive means when the tool replacement determining means determines the next command to be the tool replacement.
