<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plurality of compact actuators used for an artificial limb, wherein each actuator made of a plurality of sets of twisted strings is so efficiently arranged in the space available that it is good in the workability of assembly, external appearance, etc. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A plurality of actuators each made of twisted strings is arranged along a direction of the circumference of a thick plate-made case 80 curved along the arm or leg of an artificial limb. The case 80 includes the drive mechanism 20, twisted strings 1 and sliding member 32, each constituting twisted string-made actuator. The case 80 includes a thick plate member 81 curved along the arm or leg of the artificial limb, and a thin plate cover member 82 covering the outer circumferential surface of the thick plate member 81. Notches 811, 812 accommodating the drive mechanism 20, twisted strings 1 and sliding member 32 are formed in the outer circumferential face of the thick plate member 81.
