Use of a composition (I) comprising in a medium one or more organosilicon compounds (A) comprising 1-3 silicon atoms, one or more basic chemical functions and one or more hydroxyl or hydrolyzable groups per molecule in a pre-treatment composition comprising one or more hydrophobic film-forming polymers, one or more pigments and one or more volatile solvents, is claimed. An independent claim is included for treating keratin fibers comprising applying a pre-treatment composition comprising (A) in medium, then applying a composition comprising hydrophobic film-forming polymers, pigments and volatile solvents.
