<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive-guide mechanism for a chair type stairway elevator, enabling attainment of a fastening state in fixed conditions without being affected by the skills of assembly workers or errors in manufacturing components. Ž<P>SOLUTION: On a driving shaft 11 supported by an elevator body 5 of the chair type stairway elevator, a pair of guide roller split bodies 13a, 13b parted in two and a sprocket 14 mounted to be integrally rotated with the driving shaft 11 are provided on both sides and at a position between both guide roller split bodies 13a, 13b, respectively. Thrust members 15 are incorporated between the opposed faces of each of the guide roller split bodies 13a, 13b and the sprocket 14 on the driving shaft 11. The pair of guide roller split bodies 13a, 13b, the sprocket 14 and the thrust members 15 are fastened to one another at the end of the driving shaft 11 in the axial direction with shaft end nuts 16.
