摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a transmissive liquid crystal display device that reduces even luminous energy absorbed by not only a liquid crystal panel but also a color filter and can lower backlight value as compared with the conventional technique by lowering both saturation and luminance of input RGB values. <P>SOLUTION: In the transmissive liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal panel and a backlight, the liquid crystal panel is a liquid crystal panel 15 having pixels each divided into four sub-pixels of R, G, B, and W. The backlight is a white backlight 17 by which luminance of emitted light is controllable. An RGB input signal being an original input signal is subjected to saturation/luminance simultaneous reduction processing (processing to decrease saturation and luminance of the RGB input signal simultaneously so that when the saturation and luminance are both decreased, only the saturation does not become 0 while a hue of the input RGB is held) by a saturation/luminance simultaneous reduction part 11, and then transmissivity and a backlight value are obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
