<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To successfully form an interpolation picture element without using a method such as frequency analysis or the like. <P>SOLUTION: When image data of the first number of picture elements is converted to image data of the second number of picture elements larger than the first number of picture elements, a process of forming interpolation picture elements, in which the increased picture elements are formed by interpolation, is carried out. Histogram analysis is performed to a picture element value of the image data which has the second number of picture elements through interpolation by the process of forming interpolation picture elements. A process of dividing region for classifying each picture element in the image data into a plurality of regions is carried out, based on similarity of each data in the obtained histogram. In addition, a process of detecting edge for detecting interpolated picture elements in an edge part of each region divided by the process of dividing region is performed. Then, a process of determining edge picture element value, in which the interpolated picture element of the edge part detected by the process of detecting edge is used as an interpolation value from adjacent picture elements that belong to the same region obtained by the process of dividing region, is carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
