PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that generates image data whose output has failed without reading the image data again even if an error occurs in a channel used for the output of the image data, and an image processing method. SOLUTION: A first image processing part 25 applies correction processing due to characteristics of a scanner 4 to image data. A first output control part 24 outputs the image data handled by the correction processing. An input control part 31 receives input of either the image data output by the first output control part 24 or image data transmitted from a memory 3. A second image processing part 37 applies image processing according to the output mode to the image data input from the first output control part 24 to the input control part 31. A second output control part 36 outputs plural types of image data including output image data to the memory 3 via a plurality of channels and continues the output via a first channel even if an error occurs in channels other than the first channel.
