PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical guide system for simply showing from which direction a body part or an organ to be plotted in a guide image is viewed with respect to the orientation state of a subject. SOLUTION: The medical guide system includes: a medical instrument with a position and orientation detecting element arranged therein; a detecting part for detecting the position and orientation of the position and orientation detecting element and outputting the detection result as a detection value; a data holding part for holding reference image data composed of the anatomical image of a human body; a guide image generating part for generating a guide image to show the three-dimensional position and orientation of the medical instrument with respect to the human body by associating them with the reference image data in response to the detection value; and an index generating part for generating an index which shows the three-dimensional orientation of the guide image.
